A unique new lure from Kuusamo! Kumma is a hybrid lure that combines an unconventional spinner shape with a precisely balanced body. The combination features a fast spinning spinner, unpredictable side-to-side movement, occasional turns, and delicate vibration. This long-casting and effective general-purpose lure is at its best in fishing in rapids.
Kuusamo’s lure designers thought about the best way to combine a plug with a spinner in such a fashion that the best features of both lure types were present in the combination. The solution became obvious once the propeller-shaped spinner was discovered. But the propeller-shaped spinner alone was not enough, as the lure also needed a varying and effective swimming action. The spinner had to be combined with a precisely balanced body that could move with responsiveness, while keeping the top side pointed toward the surface. These elements combined to produce Kumma, which features an innovative spinner-design that moves the weighted body that resembles a young fish in an unpredictable pattern.
Kumma is a long-casting general-purpose lure that has been used to haul in a delightful variety of catches. Even though Kumma weighs 11 grams, it does not sink very deep at regular speeds due to the resistance provided by the spinner. The unique design of the spinner allows the lure to swim effectively at lower speeds as well. This is very useful when fishing in deeper areas or backwaters. Rapids often feature shallower areas where faster retrieval is necessary to prevent your spinner or spoon from getting caught on the bottom. At faster speeds, Kumma is surprisingly adept at staying just below the surface film, thus allowing you to fish in more challenging places as well.
Kumma lures are manufactured and finetuned for effective fishing in Kuusamo, Finland. Kumma’s swimming action can be adjusted carefully by pressing the spinner slightly inward to increase the movement of the body. Correspondingly, movement can be reduced by bending the spinner outward. If the through wire is bent diagonally or upward (in case of bottom contact, for example), it has to be straightened sideways and bent slightly down in the vertical direction toward the “jaw”.
During an extended testing period, Kumma was used to catch charr, trout, European whitefish, grayling, pike, perch, roach, and ide, which means that we are talking about a genuine general-purpose lure.
