Marttiini Martef Skinner

Martef-coated hunting knives are excellent tools for hunters. The dirt and moisture repelling Martef coating reduces friction to almost zero whilst protecting the blade against corrosion. Due to the coating the blade moves extremely smoothly through cut meat or fish, and cleaning the blade after use is extremely easy.

The Skinner Martef knife is the best-selling knife in the Hunting series. The blade is produced from stainless steel and by design it is excellent for both skinning game and for carving. The orange textured rubber handle and the finger guard ferrule ensure a good grip in demanding conditions. The knife is supplied with a black leather sheath.

The stainless steel used by Marttiini is an easy-to-maintain blade material, which allows the blade to retain its sharpness for a long time. The alloy contains 13% of chrome and its hardness is 53–54 Rockwell units (HRC). We recommend using a diamond sharpener for chromium steel blades.

Rubber mixture is extremely well suited for knife handles. The ergonomically shaped rubber handle is dishwasher-safe, easy to maintain, hygienic and safe. The rubber handle feels pleasant and warm to the touch even in harsh outdoor conditions, such as in freezing cold or wet weather. The textured surface of the handle and the finger guard guarantee a safe and firm grip for knives in the Condor series.

The leather sheaths of Marttiini knives are made of either vegetable or chrome tanned ox hide. The leather hides are purchased from both Europe and South America. Sheaths are made of both dyed and natural colored leather. The knife sheaths are still made mostly by hand. Each sheath has to be exactly the right size and shape, so it forms a fitting pair with the knife. A section of the leather is cut with a die cut tool, and the seams are glued before sewing. Most sheaths have a plastic skeleton inside that supports the sheath and prevents the blade from cutting the leather sheath. The design on the sheath is printed on the cut leather piece or the finished sheath. The sheathe is reinforced and decorated with rivets, and in some cases a bronze collar band.
