In 2016, fish artist and graphic designer Sakke Yrjölä was nominated the Fisher of the Year as recognition for his work. “The Fisher of the Year is nominated by the distinguished panel of judges assembled by Suomalaisen kalastusmatkailun edistämisseura ry. Sakke Yrjölä is following in the footsteps of trailblazers such as Wilhelm von Wright and Gösta Sundman. His artistic touch remains at a very high level down to the final scale. The artist has also carried out important work by increasing the appreciation of lesser fish species at the dinner table.
