This baitcasting reel features Shimano’s top of the line I-DC5 casting brake system with the Digital Control System, which works seamlessly with the ultralight MGL III spool. The MGL III spool of Shimano’s SLX XT DC baitcasting reel is best suited for thin braided, monofilament, or fluorocarbon lines. But the hidden weapon of this reel is the I-DC5 system, which allows you to choose your brake settings depending on the line and lure. Fast, versatile, and stress-reducing! The top of the line features of the reel are hidden inside a reliable aluminum Hagane housing. The reel also has lightweight CI4+ side plates. Inside, you can find Micro Module gearing with X-SHIP support. A reliable fishing brake with Cross Carbon discs ensures smooth and effective braking.

• Digital Control i-DC5 casting brake system. No batteries required, as the rotation of the spool charges the device
• Hagane housing. The forged Hagane body ensures reliable operation even under significant load. For the proper functioning of the gearing and the entire reel, it is extremely important that the body cannot twist at any time. A forged housing keeps the reel mechanism in the optimal position regardless of the braking pressure. The Hagane technology allows for extremely lightweight housing constructions due to the re-arrangement of the internal crystalline structure of the metal caused by forging.
• Micro Module Gear: main gear cold forged from pure aluminum with teeth so small that the main gear friction is minimized alongside the clearance. The small teeth allow the gears to remain in constant contact, thus significantly improving the sensitivity and feel of the reel. This can only be done by Shimano!
• X-Ship. Shimano’s X-Ship design means that the most critical components are supported from each end and kept precisely in their places. This provides you plenty of power and torque, which will become apparent when you are fighting your record catch
• Lightweight Magnumlite (MGL) spool begins to rotate easily, which allows you to cast even lighter lures with ease!
• Super Free System (SF) was designed to reduce spool friction during casting. The SF system features a pinion gear that is supported by a ball bearing, which produces less friction during casting and ensures that the pinion gear and spool shaft are perfectly aligned
• The CI4 material is a perfect combination of carbon fiber and polyamide. Almost as strong as metal but with the low weight of composite materials. CI4 is used in the housings and rotors of Shimano reels
• The S A-RB bearings are made from stainless steel. The surface of an A-RB bearing is harder than with regular bearings, which allows for lower rolling resistance. This bearing type is also significantly more resilient against corrosion than steel bearings. In addition, the S type bearing is sealed to prevent dirt from penetrating it
• SVS Infinity casting brake system consists of four brake pads powered by the centrifugal force. The brake pads can be adjusted via the side plate equipped with a quick-release mechanism or the precision adjustment switch located on the outside of the reel. Each pad can be engaged or disengaged separately. This drag system offers an extremely wide range of adjustment
• S3D (Shimano Stable Spool Design). A new spool construction that reduces vibrations when casting, thus improving the fishing response even further.

I-DC5 settings:
• Choose the line with inside dial adjustment: Nylon (Monofilament), Fluorocarbon, Braided (PE). Use the outside dial to choose your lure: 1. Large lures 2. Medium lures 3. Small lures, and 4. Finesse lures. The system also includes the AUTO setting, which allows the system to adjust the settings optimally on your behalf.
